[info]enshanam recently posted a 101 Things in 1001 Days list. I really like the idea, because I want to keep trying new experiences. The link above is to the original guy who thought of it. The criteria are:
The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).

I have no idea if I'll be able to manage all these, but I'll definitely be trying. My 1001 days goes from yesterday (when I made the list) until Nov. 9, 2009. When a task is complete, I'll strike it out on the list and note the completion date, and most likely post about it.

If you know a lot about any of the subjects or activities listed and would be willing to help me out or do them with me, comment below. A few things are partly redacted to avoid giving personal info about others.

Current progress:
As of 28 May 2007, it's been 106 days since I started and I've completed 5.5 goals. I've made some progress on several others too, but I need to start ticking some of these off since 10% of the time has passed but only 5% of the goals have!

I actually haven't strictly speaking reviewed any of my receipts yet, but tonight I went through and noted down categories for all expenditures on my credit or debit cards since last April, so the only receipts I really need to check carefully besides cash receipts are those that may or may not be gifts, and those whose categorization is vague, like I can't tell if I got cash back, or whether a trip to Walgreens was household or medical.

In the process I noticed that
1) I spend an awful lot at Albertson's by work.
2) I made quite a few donations late last year, well over what I was thinking of budgeting for this year.
3) I bought a lot of gifts for people, which I don't regret in the least but was somewhat surprised by.
4) I spend a lot of money on Amazon.

Ideas for improvement:
1) Budget and plan shopping for "snacks" or days I don't bring lunch, buy stuff at TJs or the farmer's market and take it in, instead of going and getting stuff there, because they overcharge.
2) Make donations once a year in an organized fashion, for the most part.
3) Watch my gifting a bit more closely and choose wisely.
4) Before I buy stuff on Amazon, make sure it's money-saving and I either need to own it or can't get it at the library/secondhand/on sale somewhere else.
